|Location:||Near Mid Rivers Mall, St. Peters, MO (Adjacent Parking Lot)|
|Description:||The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is seeking volunteers for an exercise that will simulate response to a biological terrorism incident.|
The exercise, scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. June 28 on a parking lot adjacent to Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, will test the capability of instituting a medication distribution plan in the event of a large-scale biological attack or natural disaster requiring delivery of medical resources to the community.
Individuals and groups can participate as drive-through patients seeking medication. Trained medical personnel can join the exercise as part of a medical reserve corps. The health department will establish a drive-through point of dispensing site where staff and volunteers will practice their roles in the response.
The first 500 participants will receive a sandwich and gift bag provided by Chick-Fil-A as a thank you for assisting with the event. All individuals in a car or larger vehicle will be considered independent participants, so carpooling is encouraged. To register as a group or individual participant, or for information on joining the medical reserve corps, call Joe Morin at 636-949-7554.
Assisting in this regional exercise are representatives of the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department, the cities of St. Peters and O'Fallon, Crider Health Center, Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, St. Charles County Ambulance District, Central County Fire and Rescue, the Orchard Farm, Lake Saint Louis and Wentzville fire protection districts and local health departments from throughout Missouri and Illinois, according to a news release from the health department.
