In the event of a weather emergency how would you know the most up to date weather information? A battery operated NOAA weather radio can make sure you know what’s coming.
Certain radios are equipped to pick up the signals sent by NOAA. “NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR) is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the nearest National Weather Service office. NWR broadcasts official Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” according to the National Weather Service’s website.
“The key is having a battery operated device that doesn’t depend on electricity, the Internet or any other source to get you the information you need to keep your family safe,” explains CCFR Chief Russ Mason.
NOAA radios are available at most electronics stores and online at places such as amazon.com, the National Weather Service offers tips for purchasing and using one of these radios here.
