On Aug. 20, Central County Fire & Rescue (CCFR) crews responded to a vehicle fire in the 2600 block of Muegge Road.
After extinguishing the fire, the crew — which included Capt. Matt Dermody, engineer Michael Roth and firefighter Sam Sinovich — realized that the young passenger’s car seat had been destroyed by the flames. Unwilling to send him off without one, the crew immediately went to a nearby Target, where they purchased a new car seat.
Outfitted in his fire hat and holding a CCFR coloring book, the young passenger, Xavier, was more than happy to try out his new car seat and pose for a photo with CCFR crew members.
The car seat was paid for with donations from the Central County Community Outreach program. Thank you to the generous staff at Target in St. Charles for providing a 40 percent discount at checkout.
