Don’t Burn Your Lawn

Often times, homeowners who have zoysia grass burn their lawns to refresh them for spring. This is extremely dangerous, and illegal.

“We have seen numerous home catch fire when people try to burn their lawns,” explains CCFR Chief Russ Mason. “These fires spread extremely fast, and burn very hot, making them incredibly dangerous.”

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), on average, nearly 1,000 brush, grass, or forest fires are reported per day in the U.S.

“If a resident is having trouble with their lawn, excess leaves, or yard waste we strongly encourage them to contact a landscaping service to handle the problem. Burning should not be considered an option,” says Mason.
