Racing To The Top

Home » News » Racing To The Top

How long would it take you to climb a 42-story building in full firefighting gear, breathing through an oxygen tank? One CCFR firefighter did it in less than 10 minutes.

As part of the 2011 Fight For Air Firefighter Challenge, five CCFR firefighters helped raise awareness and donations for the American Lung Association while competing to see who could get to the top of the Metropolitan Square Building in downtown St. Louis the fastest.

Brian Schuster was the fastest firefighter in the competition, and the team of five took first place in the Firefighter Challenge, while raising $786 for the American Lung Association. Overall, the event raised more than $300,000.

The CCFR participants were:
Battalion Chief Tim Hill
Engineer Eric Graham
Firefighter Brian Schuster
Firefighter James Hill
Reserve Firefighter Jake Taylor
