Four CCFR Firefighters Recognized For Life Saving Efforts
At their Sept. 10, 2013 meeting the Central County Fire & Rescue (CCFR) Board of Directors recognized four firefighters for their assistance in saving the life of a local resident.
On June 24, 2013 CCFR Acting Captain Eric Braatz, Engineer Ron Cook, Firefighter Robert Kreuzer, Battalion Chief Tim Hill and other first responders arrived on an emergency scene and found a 44-year-old unconscious victim outside. She was not breathing and didn’t have a pulse.
Working with paramedics from the St. Charles Ambulance District, the team assisted with airway management while chest compressions were performed. After several rounds of chest compressions and successful airway management, the victim regained a pulse and was transferred to the ambulance. When she was transported to the hospital she had a pulse and was breathing on her own.
“When someone is in cardiac arrest seconds matter. Using their advanced training skills, these firefighter/EMTs were able to help save the life of this resident,” says Chief CCFR. “We are proud of their efforts, and all they do for our community.”
