tornado825 Homes Within CCFR District Damaged in May 31 Tornado

When the tornado ripped through the Central County Fire & Rescue (CCFR) District in St. Peters, MO on May 31, 2013 it left 825 homes damaged. After the tornado CCFR firefighters were assigned to perform damage assessments to every home within the District.

Following more than three days of work, the team found:

  • 333 homes that had light damage such as minor roof damage or a tree down in the yard.
  • 449 homes that had minor damage such as broken windows and doors, trees leaning on the home or moderate roof damage.
  • 43 homes that suffered heavy damage, making the homes uninhabitable without substantial repairs or construction.

“After seeing the damage to our area, we were lucky that no one was seriously injured during the storm,” says CCFR Chief Russ Mason.

All of the damage within the District was in the Fire Station #6 service zone. This station lost two fire engine bay doors and sustained additional minor damage.
